Ellowyne Wilde, Red, White and Very Blue

Just after the summerholidays I saw her listed at a local auctionsite: Red, White & Very Blue.
She would be sold nude, but I knew her original outfit is mainly a crochet outfit, so I thought it would be a nice challenge to try and figure to recreate her original outfit.
I managed to win her, and when she arrived she was even dressed, in Red, White and not so very blue.....

Of course this was a lovely surprise, but I had already been asking for help at the yahoo club, and Carol and Patricia had been kind enough to take tons of pictures for me of the original outfit.
Also, I had already bought fabric for the tights and sleeves, and started crocheting.
Here is my first attempt:
My first attempt seemed a bit wide, so I decided to try and make another one.
So I had another go at it, and the second one was indeed tighter, in fact it is so tight that it is quite difficult to put it on:

and a close up picture of the decoration
I just thought it would be nice to upload a picture of the original outfit too:
Here is the original Wilde Imagination picture

When I was at the market a couple of weeks ago I saw some soft faux leather, which I thought would do the job well for the bag and the shoes. (Yes, call me crazy, I've never attempted to make bags or shoes before, so that's another challenge!)

My first and so far only attempt at recreating the bag.
I've started working on the shoes too, but will have to see if I can find some faux brown leather for the soles too.
The shoes are still a WIP, as I have to find material to make the heels, and I will try to find some faux brown leather for the soles. To be continued.......

Knitting for Ellowyne

Before even one Ellowyne arrived at my place, I started knitting for her.
First I knitted a silver hat and scarf set, and after that a blue one.
My daughter asked me if she could have the blue one for her Jolina ballerina doll, so I am considdering giving it to her.
The hat & scarf sets were made from a free pattern from Rochelle's originals.

Feeling Drained had quite an adventure before she arrived at my place, so all she wanted was to cuddle up in a nice & cosy outfit.
I still had this lovely knit ensemble lying here, made by Linda Jo, which I won as a prize in the summer bingo at the Yahoo Ellowyne club.

Here are a couple more pictures of feeling Drained:

I love how well this ensemble goes with her eyecolour

Jodie had a super cute and simple idea how to make hats, so I bought some yarn and made a ruffle scarf for myself and a hat for Ellowyne:
I might add a silver glitter pom pom, as it would go will with the edge....

The making of the Daisy Calendar 2014

It's already almost october, so this reminded me I should really start to work on next years Daisy calendar.
Last year I went on a trip to mini Europe near Bruxelles, Belgium, as I had the idea to take pictures of Daisy with some doll sized buildings in the background, just like she is pictured in the booklets.
So I took a couple of boxes full of stuff with me:

I really enjoyed taking pictures there, but some of the buildings had so many visitors close to them, that I wasn't able to take pictures of them with Daisy. The guards were also eyeing me suspiciously...
But I did take a couple of pictures that will definitely make it to this calendar or one of the next years calendars.

Although it's really autumn here now, the weather is quite lovely at the moment, so I decided to take advantage of it and take a couple of pictures.
Let's see what's all needed:
An Elephant for the picture with the Taj Mahal in the background, maybe I can use this fabric for Daisy to sit on

A Camel, for Daisy when she's visiting the Pyramids
The Eifeltower and a table & chair for Paris

A last check before taking the picture, Daisy is balanced with a small stick of wood, and I am allowed to use the husbands camera for the Daisy calendar

Outfits all sorted, statue of Liberty, and of course my photobox tent, now to balance the girls.........
So, I've really seriously started now, but I think I will have to do some sewing to cover the elephant and the camel. To be continued.....

Links to free patterns and tutorials for Ellowyne

When I just started collecting Ellowyne I bought a couple of nude dolls, and of course they needed to get dressed.
So I searched the internet to see if I could find some free patterns for Ellowyne, and oh yes! I found quite a few links.
As I know there might be more people interested in getting some free patterns, I thought I'd just as well share the links here in my blog.
I already started with some links when I had some outfits finished, but it might take me forever to make them all, so I thought it would be handy to put all the links I've found so far in one blogpost.

Ellowyne and her wigs

My first wigged Ellowyne doll was the Essential Redhead 5, which I really love, but I would have loved to buy the brunette, only she was already sold out at WI at the time that I bought my redhead.
So I decided to see if I could find anything on ebay, and then the EE5 brunette wig showed up, and I thought that one would be just as nice on my EE5 red.

Well, as you can see she's really super pretty.
Just before I went on holiday, I bought my second wigged Ellowyne, Feeling Drained too, only with her short black wig. She would arrived during my holiday, so had to collect her after my holidays.

Whilst I was on holiday I found a couple more wigs on ebay, and managed to buy them too:

A little later I bought another pretty black wig off ebay, as I secretly would like to have 'Plaid to meet you', but after buying so many other gorgeous beauties, she will have to remain on my wishlist a little longer.

More Ellowyne's

Just before my summerholidays, another girl arrived; Alone on Sunday.

I love the outfit, and I think I like the doll too, but she may need to have an eye operation too........
During my 2 weeks holidays in the UK, tons of dolls and doll stuff arrived, so it was just like a birthday or St. Nicolaas for me when I arrived back home and had so many parcels to open up!

Although I'm not much into the painted eyes dolls, I really love the first Ellowyne's with their painted eyes, which are so much more detailed than the later ones

Sewing for Ellowyne

As I mentioned before, I had been looking up links for free patterns for Ellowyne.
The first dress I've been sewing for her is this one:

You can find it back here: http://dolloutfits.com/patterns/robesoleilello/index.html

Another dress from a free pattern is here:

I am donating this dress set as a prize for a contest at a Yahoo Ellowyne group.

Speaking of the contest, I really wanted to join in, as the theme is : It's only make believe.
**Show one of your WI girls as your favorite movie, TV, novel or fairytale character. Please include a 2-6 line poem telling us about your photo when adding your entry to the contest album I will set up on September 5th. You can include any other WI doll in your scene if necessary, but the main focus should be on any girl from the Ellowyne line.

Being a huge Wheel of Time fan (yes, it's the fantasy novel series by Robert Jordan and finished by Brandon Sanderson) I immediately knew I wanted to make the Lade Moiraine Damodred, Aes Sedai of the blue ajah.

So I bought some patterns from http://www.dollpatternbazaar.com/ , which I thought would be great for this theme. The seller was very helpful and included an extra pattern for the hat of the cloak, as the one for the female cloak would be too small for Ellowyne.

Since I had trouble finding sky blue velvet for the cloak, I only managed to finish the dress in time for the contest, but of course I had to make the cloak too

This picture is my contest entry, and here is the poem:
On a cold winternight my wish was fulfilled~
I heard the foretelling of the Dragon Reborn~
But scared was I, not thrilled~
For almost twenty years I´ve searched the world~
And now I´ve found him in a place forlorn~
And the three Ta´veren threads twirled~
Through the pattern of the Wheel of Time~
To weave a web of Destiny~

Yes, I still need to hem the dress, but it wasn't really necessary for the contest picture. :D
